Whoo Hoo !!
Hi I’m Rachel Tomkinson and at 36 years young I feel in better shape than I ever have! I’m married with two young children, Renee 3 years and Jenna 1 year but I feel younger today than I did in my twenties. Why…because I have finally taken true control of my health and my body.

In denial, I used to throw out photos that showed how much fat I had accumulated on my body. I would tell myself it was just a bad angle, not a flattering photo, not really me! When admitted to hospital for surgery, I was shocked to weigh in at 90kgs (their scales must have been out!). I really didn’t take ownership of my body until people began labelling me unkindly.

That was the turning point and I finally decided to take control of my own body. I knew it was up to me to make the changes so I set myself some goals.
I began gym workouts and entered my first Body Sculpting competition. I had to stick to a consistent exercise plan and soon realised how efficient resistance exercise is in reducing body fat. The results were amazing!
However, to get myself into shape for the competition, I had to train six days a week, often two hours at a time.

My diet was bland and unappealing to me or anyone else in the family. I knew this was not a plan I could stick to for long.

After Renee was born, I realised that a combination of quality resistance and aerobic exercises was the key to getting me back into a shape I could maintain for the long term. Balance between exercise and good healthy eating was the only plan that was going to work. I began studying health issues and researching alternative nutritional strategies. Some of these theories made sound sense to me and we began to make some changes to the way we approached food and other consumable products.
After my second daughter broke out in a horrendous case of eczema while I was still breastfeeding, I began eliminating processed additives and sugars from my diet and increased natural fats. Her skin condition vanished! Bonus being I felt fantastic.
Believe me, much of this took me well out of my comfort zone and over time, I have done a complete turn around with astonishing results.
I no longer get sick and feel like I’m in the best shape I have ever been. As a busy mother and business owner, I have no time or desire to exercise fanatically but include quality exercise no more than three times a week.

At the beginning of the year I joined the Lifestyle Commitment Program offered by Rachel & her team through Better Bods.The last 6 months have been a real eye opener for me in terms of my health and lifestyle. Last year I had six colds and had my second bout of pneumonia.I thought I was eating healthy and exercising right, eating the low fat products, watching what I ate, exercising ect, so what was I doing wrong? Through the program I have learnt allot about what is in our food & nutrition. My diet has changed, I now eat foods that are not processed, use butter, cream and dripping. Inadvertently I have lost about 8 kilos, however this program is about a lifestyle change not a weight loss program. The best news thou is that I haven't had a cold all year, I do not feel tired and I generally feel great.
