US:

David and I are on a 143 hectare farm approximately 4km east of Temuka. The farm has been in David’s family since 1935, dairy for the past 5 years. We have 6 children, and numerous animals to keep us very busy, not to mention the cows! We love life, and love the outdoors.
While David takes care of the day to day running of the farm, I like to assist around calving time, and am currently planting our large orchard, and surrounding area. In the next few years we are hoping to have quite a collection of different animals, including pheasants, ducks, rabbits, pigs, and a big flock of hens to give us lovely free range eggs.
We are passionate about health, and after meeting Rachel Tomkinson about six months ago, we are really looking forward to providing as many people as we can, unprocessed cow’s milk.


COWS:

Currently we are milking 550 jersey cross cows. We have consistently only used A2 bulls with our cows each year, and we are planning to supply premium A2 milk in the future.
We are “cow friendly” and treat our cows with patience and care, so as not to cause any more stress to them than necessary with performing our day to day milking and feeding routines.
Their total diet is made up of 86% pasture, and pure barley straight from another farm just down the road.

MILK:

The milk on our farm is produced using the guidelines and requirements set out in the Animal Products Act 1999, Animal Products (Dairy) Regulations 2005, and our Risk Management Plan is in accordance with NZ Food Safety Requirements. For the past 3 years we have been certified as having consistently supplied a very high standard of milk.



PROCEDURE:

Due to our restraints to keep within the law, we are only permitted to sell up to 5 litres per person per day. As the milk is to be provided in 2 litre containers, each sale will be for either 2 or 4 litres.

Cost per 2 litres of milk is $3.

Money will have to be deposited before delivery days into bank account: 02-0888-0063732-000 R L Burgess (BNZ)

Delivery days will be Mondays and Thursdays at 8.45-9am at the Farm Gate shop on North Street, Timaru.

Due to milk being a perishable product, I am unable to bring milk to town that has not been pre-ordered (pre-sold), therefore it is imperative that orders and payments are received by the preceding Friday for the following week. AGREEMENT:

Between Rachel Burgess (herein after called “the Supplier”), and
__________________________ (herein after called “the Purchaser”).

# the Supplier has produce including unpasteurised milk available within the milking season mid-August until mid-May the following year.
# the purchaser has requested the Supplier to supply product to the Purchaser from time to time.
# the Supplier has agreed to supply such produce to the Purchaser upon and subject to the following terms and conditions.

THIS AGREEMENT RECORDS:

1 For the consideration of $1 membership paid by the Purchaser to the Supplier (receipt of which sum the Supplier hereby acknowledges) the Supplier hereby agrees to supply produce to the Purchaser from time to time.
2 The Purchaser acknowledges that the goods supplied to the Purchaser are fragile food items which require refrigeration and consumption at the optimum times. The Purchaser shall therefore insure that all produce purchased from the Supplier is appropriately refrigerated and kept chilled and consumed or discarded within the appropriate times so that all produce is either used, consumed or discarded before it deteriorates in any way.
3 The Purchaser shall absolutely indemnify the Supplier from and against all costs claimed losses actions or suits what so ever arising out of the supply of produce by the Supplier to the Purchaser whether such loss is incurred by the Purchaser.
4 The Purchaser may not on sell produce to a third party.
5 The Supplier shall advise the Purchaser from time to time of the type of produce available and the applicable price of such produce and availability of supply provided that the Suppliers ability to supply will always be subject to quantities available and existing demand.
